Vocabulary enricher
LI- Define complex and unfamiliar words, identify synonyms and use the words in a context.
Success Criteria:
  • Write a definition of each word.
  • Include synonyms for each word.
  • Writ sentences that include each word
Sick- ‘The door closed and I stood there, not knowing what to do, feeling sick ‘( pg 58)
Definition- feeling nauseous and wanting to vomit
Synonyms- ill, frail, suffering
Tears-  ‘I started to cry (tear up)  again’  (pg 60)
Definition- shed tears in distress, pain or sorrow
Synonyms- sobbing, weeping,
Fear-  (pg 60)
Definition- an unpleasant emotion caused by the threat of danger, pain or harm
Synonyms- anxiety, despair, horror
Lies-  ‘so you did lie?’ (pg 60)
Definition- be, remain, or be kept in a specific state
Synonyms- deceit, fiction, tale
Pain- (pg 61)
Definition-  highly unpleasant physical sensation caused by illness or injury  
Synonyms- discomfort, ache, soreness
Aggressive- (pg 61)
Definition-  behaving or done in a determined and forceful way
Synonyms-  threatening, attacking, disruptive
Blood-  ‘I wiped my face, but it was blood and snot, and I was slapped again…” (pg 61)
Definition-  the red liquid that circulates in the arteries and veins of humans and other vertebrate animals, carrying oxygen to and carbon dioxide from the tissues of the body.

Sister Olivia Trash Andy Mulligan Sister Olivia is a soft hearted generous woman that always puts the needs of other people before her own. She has a particular fondness for rat and even wanted to adopt him. She was the lady that was tricked into taking Gardo to visit Gabriel Olondriz even though she had to pay 10,000 pesos to do so. Vocab Enricher Accomplished- Definition- When something is completed or a goal has been achieved. Why I chose this word- This word has significance in the story because the message from Jose said “it is accomplished”. Memorized Definition- Permanently store something in your brain/memory Why I chose this word- This word is important because when Gabriel Olondriz asked Gardo what he did with the letter Gardi said he memorized it.
