Character Captain- Week 6

Sister Olivia

Trash

Andy Mulligan

Sister Olivia is a soft hearted generous woman that always puts the needs of other people before her own. She has a particular fondness for rat and even wanted to adopt him. She was the lady that was tricked into taking Gardo to visit Gabriel Olondriz even though she had to pay 10,000 pesos to do so. She always thinks the best of people and doesn’t believe that they would fool her.

“Behala had hit me hard, and i couldn’t get it out of my mind”
“ I fell in love with the eyes looking at me, and the smiles”
“Jun would not call me Olivia, it was always “sister”, and then it became “mother”

Olivia plays an important role in the story and is a volunteer teacher in the Mission school. She is a very important character as without her Gardo, Rat and Raphael would have never visited the prison and deciphered the code.

Olivia changes throughout the story by becoming wiser and less innocent. She becomes more inclined to disbelieve people and not immediately trust them. She also learns how bad the world is inside Behala by seeing all the cages filled with people.
